About Us

Welcome to Skully's Soap. Founded by two business woman who believe that your body is your temple. Our glycerin rich, handcrafted soap leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, and nourished. We take an extra step and add Fresh Organic Herbs to our batches. The whole herbs are crushed to a powder and added to the oils then cooked and infused your soap.

The skin is the largest organ of the body. It contains thousands of tiny pores on the surface that can absorb vitamins, acids, water and oxygen in order to provide moisture and nourishment to your skin. Thats why Skully's soap has no synthetic chemicals or dyes added.

Q&A

How can we call our soap organic when we use lye?

Their is NO lye in our soap. The chemical reaction of making soap, called saponification, is complete, the lye and oil molecules have combined and chemically changed into soap and glycerin. You're not using lye on your skin. You're using soap. All the lye--either sodium hydroxide for bar soap or potassium hydroxide for liquid soap--is consumed in the reaction. We actually add more oil than is required for the chemical reaction, further ensuring the neutralization of lye and adding to the soap's moisturizing qualities. Including extra fats in the mixture is known as superfatting.

Can you make a soap without Lye?

All soap is made with lye, whether it's bar or liquid and Skully's soap is great for your skin. The distinction between our soap and commercial cleansers is especially clear with liquid soaps. Since most weren't made with lye, what your buying isn't soap, but a factory made detergent for the skin. Lye isn't a villain, nor is soap made with lye something to avoid. In fact, Skully's soap is made with your skin and health in mind. And is far superior in overall quality and gentleness to commercial, non-soap cleansers.

Lye alternatives

Some soap makers that claim they make soap with lye alternatives. This is not accurate. These melt-and-pour soap bases contain Sodium Hydroxide. Lye was used in the process to make the glycerin to create the melt-and-pour base they use for their soaps. Making soap without lye isn’t really possible. Why is your soap so expensive? Skully's soap does not cut corners. We do not mass produce each batch is made by hand with expensive organic oils, herbs, Essential oils or safe fragrance oils. We use Aloe juice instead of distilled water in our bar soap.
